A Journey of Being Delivered from Fear

Fear entered my life at a very young age—when I was six years old—through the trauma of abuse. That early experience opened the door to deep-seated fear that would follow me for years. Growing up in a political family added more layers to that fear. I remember being awakened at night because my father would gather us together; a man carrying a bayong that looked like it had an armalite stood outside our house. We were told to lie flat on the floor and were even handed a small senorita gun for protection. Those nights left a lasting imprint of terror.

As I grew older, fear continued to follow me. I faced fear during surgeries—first for a suspicious breast mass, then for my eye due to persistent headaches. Later, a myoma operation and a miscarriage brought more waves of fear. Even ordinary activities sometimes triggered anxiety, like traveling, being in elevators, or walking and driving at night. When my husband and I were told we would spend a year in Canada for our internship, fear gripped me again; I was even afraid to ride the plane.

It was in Canada where God began a deeper work of healing in me. Through the Living Waters 30-Week Healing Program, He led me to the roots of my fears and brought healing to places I didn’t even realize were wounded. I started to experience freedom as I bind fear at the cross and as I applied God’s Word, and slowly, fear began to lose its grip.

But the process was gradual. Fear still creeps in sometimes, even now. When it does, I bring it to the cross, declare God’s promises over my life, and remind myself of His protection. I hear His voice assuring me that He is my covering and my shield. I particularly cling to Psalm 91, my favorite verse:

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust…A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.’”

God’s Word became my anchor. I memorized verses like “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10), “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18), and “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Each time fear surfaced, I would intentionally speak God’s promises, and His Spirit would reassure me.

God eventually called me to lead the prayer/deliverance ministry. At first, I wondered, “Lord, me? A fearful person?” But He taught me that He often calls us to use the very areas of our weakness for His glory. Over time, as I led more deliverances, fear gradually lost its hold. Each step of obedience strengthened my faith and trust in Him.

Today, I still face moments when fear whispers, but I no longer live in bondage to it. I have learned that deliverance is a process, and God’s faithfulness is constant. Even now, as super typhoon approaches or darkness surrounds, I find peace in His presence, knowing He is my refuge and my protector.

God has turned my trembling into courage and my fear into faith. My journey shows that healing from fear is not instant—but as we daily trust, apply God’s Word, and listen to His voice, freedom and peace become our reality.

Healing Testimony – Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual

For a long time, I struggled with mitral valve prolapse, a condition that affected my heart physically. During a ministry session, our speaker asked me what I wanted prayer for. My immediate answer was, “I have mitral valve prolapse.”

But as he prayed and listened closely, I realized that what truly needed healing was not just my body—it was my broken heart. I had carried the emotional pain of a failed relationship and a broken engagement I had never fully surrendered that hurt to God.

As the prayer focused on my emotional and spiritual wounds, something incredible happened. God touched the deepest parts of my heart, forgiving, restoring, and comforting me. In that moment, I felt an unexpected physical relief in my chest—my heart no longer carried the tightness and irregularity caused by the emotional burden I had been holding.

By addressing the root of my emotional hurt, God also healed my physical heart condition. This experience showed me that sometimes, emotional and spiritual wounds can manifest physically, and God’s healing often comes holistically—touching body, mind, and spirit.

Scriptural reminders that accompanied my healing include:

  • Psalm 147:3 – “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
  • Isaiah 53:5 – “By His wounds we are healed.”
  • James 5:14-16 – “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.”

I now walk in freedom, not only from the physical symptoms of mitral valve prolapse but also from the emotional pain I had carried for years. God is faithful to heal in ways that exceed our understanding—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
